ConstEdit has become very unresponsive for certain documents after the update to Google Chrome 96 (or Microsoft Edge 96). This could be due to the same issue caused by the update for many Twitter and Instagram users. From the bug post, it is apparent that Google has started to investigate into the problem. Hopefully we can expect a fix in the next update. Please be patient for the time being.
Update on 06Dec. I have found a temporary workaround for the issue until the fix from Google is delivered. If you are encountering the same issue, you may disable Spell Check from Settings > Languages. Performance of ConstEdit will be back to normal. The workaround works for both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
Update on 08Dec. The latest Google Chrome update to version 96.0.4664.93 seems to give some improvement to the performance. But still it is obviously slower than it should be.
Update on 16Dec. The latest Google Chrome update to version 96.0.4664.110 still does not fix the issue. I have reported the issue to the Chromium support team, and waiting for their feedback.
Update on 31Dec. Hear from the Chromium support team that the issue is fixed in the upcoming verson Google Chrome 97.
Update on 05Jan. The slow-down is no longer observed with the latest Google Chrome update to 97.0.4692.71. The issue has been resolved with Google Chrome. As for Microsoft Edge, it can therefore be hopefully expected that the issue be fixed in the upcoming update to version 97.
Update on 08Jan. The slow-down is no longer observed with the latest Microsoft Edge update to 97.0.1072.55. The issue has also been resolved with Microsoft Edge.
